Education for a bright Future
Since 2011, children have been learning in English at our school—for a future full of possibilities.
More Than Just Education
For many children, our primary school is the key to a better future. Over 750 students between the ages of 7 and 14 attend our seven classes—from their first day of school through to the national final exams. What sets us apart: We teach in English, keep class sizes intentionally small, and provide individualized support for every child.
What education means to us:
Language as an opportunity for the future
We teach in English—following the Tanzanian curriculum, but with a head start. From the very beginning, our students learn in the language that will later open doors for them: at secondary schools, universities, and in their professional lives.
Quality you can see
A maximum of 40 children per class. State-certified teachers. Bright, modern classrooms. A library, computer lab, and science labs. We create an environment where learning is enjoyable and talents can flourish.
Opportunities for all
At least 15% of our students come from families who cannot afford tuition. We cover the costs—for instruction, meals, transportation, uniforms, and school supplies. Because a good education should not be denied due to a lack of funds.
Our Journey Since 2011
What began in 2011 with just a few classes is now one of the most respected primary schools in the region. We have built school buildings, trained teachers, and proven year after year that children from Bunju B can be just as successful as children from privileged neighborhoods. Today, over 750 children attend our primary school—and nearly all of them make the transition to a good secondary school.
A School Day Here
Morning: Arriving Together
At 6 a.m., our 14 school buses begin their routes through Bunju B and the surrounding villages. Classes start right on time at 8 a.m. – for everyone at the same time, despite the long distances and bumpy roads.
Midday: Learning, playing, recharging
At 10 a.m., there’s a break with freshly baked snacks from our bakery training workshop. At lunchtime, all the children receive a warm, healthy meal. For many, it’s the only proper meal of the day.
Afternoon: Safe journey home
Classes end at 3:00 pm. School buses take the children safely back to their families. Homework, family time and play shape the afternoon. Older pupils stay until 4:30 pm.
What We Stand For
Our Vision
A good education lays the foundation for a successful and secure life. Our school provides orphans and children from the surrounding area with an excellent education. We help children and young people build better opportunities for the future and foster in them an understanding of and tolerance for others.
Our Mission
We offer a comprehensive and well-rounded education for children between the ages of 7 and 14. Primary school concludes after 7 years with the national exam. The primary language at the school is English. Kiswahili and French are offered as the second and third languages. We prioritize high-quality education and upbringing and help children develop into active and successful members of Tanzanian society.
Our Promise
We support children from families in need by covering a portion of their school fees. Families in particularly dire need may apply for full financial assistance. Approval is granted following a home visit to the applicants’ residence. In doing so, we take the following circumstances into account:
Always respectful
We treat all families with respect and dignity and adhere to high ethical standards.
Case-by-Case Assessment
We evaluate the family’s personal circumstances and determine the amount of our financial assistance.
The Team Behind Our Success
Our Teachers
We have 33 state-certified teachers on staff. They speak only English with the children, prepare them for national exams, and nurture each child’s individual strengths.
Our Support Team
Cooks prepare 1,070 hot meals every day. Fifteen school bus drivers ensure safe transportation—in any weather, on any road. Five cleaning staff keep the classrooms and schoolyard clean, and two night watchmen are responsible for security. Everyone contributes to making learning a success.
Our School Administration
Emmaculate Mleke has led our entire school organization since 2012—from kindergarten through primary school to secondary school and vocational school. She brings heart, vision, and the experience gained from decades of work in the Tanzanian education system.
